I have had the privilege to teach Ambre Minnaar (age 10) the past three years.  She has been such an inspiration to me personally and I would like to share her AMAZING story!

Ambre was born with a right hand that did not have the normal 5 fingers. This has never stopped her from playing the violin.  At first we had a glove made for her (at Tygerberg Hospital) to “velcro” the bow to her hand so that she could play.  Later on her hand got stronger and she could grip the bow on her own.

She completed her grade 2 ABRSM violin Music exam last Monday – I was soooo proud.  She played Moon River with such feeling and a beautiful sound.

Ambre will be featuring in our road-show of Cool Classic Kidz in 2011.  She is our first Cool Classic Kidz Brand Ambassador and will motivate and inspire kidz all over the Western Cape.

“Musiek Wêreld” a music shop in Belville run by Johan Visser has kindly sponsored an ELECTRIC VIOLIN (so cool) for Ambre on which she will be performing.  Thank you Johan for our willingness to help!

Ambre is a learner at Bosmansdam Primary.  If any school or organization would like her to perform please contact me (Laurika) at 0722930954.

Well done Ambre – you are an inspiration to us all!

Yes, girl, definitely an inspiration- 7fingers and all.
You no, these 10 fingers of mine, just don’t want to do what I ask them, when it come violins and guitars. Imagine, what they’ll do when they see what what your seven finger were forced to do by YOUR shere willpower!!!!
Girl, I think gonna seriously have to take me and my fingers to task, when I’m next in Cape Town…..
till then… Let the music flow
    You GOOOOO Girl
