PANSA Western Cape brings you a month dedicated to growing the performing arts. This year the Western Cape flagship festival – the 48 Hour festival – and a series of workshops lets us up our art! Read below for more details.

1. Let the 48 Hour musicals begin!
Its back! Its new. The 48 Hour festival is now a feast of musicals.

For those of you who don’t know what it is about – how is that possible? – the 48 Hour festival is a collaboration of theatre makers spending a short and intense period of time creating new stage performances. It is fun, edgy and gives a great opportunity for new collaborations. As suggested, the festival takes place over 48 hours; 24 hours to write (and compose in this case) and 24 hours to rehearse.

Writers who enjoy music, directors with an eye for choreography and movement, actors who can sing and dance, composers who enjoy the musical genre, musicians (on any instrument) – get ready for this years challenge.

Please send your CV specifying your skill (and instrument) to nono@pansa.org.za or fax 021 448 3513. This year, to those participating will receive an honourarium of R500 for joining in the fun. The festival takes place from 6pm Friday 29th October onwards with performances on Sunday 31 October 2010.

Applications deadline: 12 October 2010.
