Nederburg picnic concert has music for all
Ease into summer with music, food and wine at the final sunset concert of the 2010 Nederburg Concert Series on November 27.
In a break from tradition, Nederburg’s annual picnic concert will take place on a Saturday afternoon and will feature the multi-talented musicians Niel Rademan and Anna Davel accompanied by Stanislav Anguelov on the accordion, Wilken Calitz on violin, Andrew Ford on piano and Willie van Zyl on sax, clarinet and flute.
Together their artistic collaboration will pay homage to genres that span the musical spectrum in a concert entitled Swing, Classic, Cabaret and all that Jazz – offering musical fare for every palate.
Both Rademan and Davel have carved successful careers in the local entertainment industry. They promise a feast of music with a vibrant mix of popular and classical favourites combining it with a few jazz standards and songs made famous by Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour, as well as traditional music from across the world.
A highly respected theatre-maker, director and cabaret singer, Rademan has been described as a “performance beast” because of his passion and versatility. He has drawn rave reviews for his shows which feature classical, popular and cabaret music.
Davel’s solo career has gone from strength to strength since leaving the enormously popular a capella group Cutt Glas in 2003. Her mellifluous vocal style has led to her being in constant demand as a vocalist and she regularly performs alongside leading musicians at some of the country’s biggest arts festivals and events.
The concert will begin at 17h00, but the gates open at 15h00 to enable patrons to claim a patch of lawn to prepare their picnic spot. Tickets for the concert are R80 and children under 12 years will be admitted free of charge. Nederburg picnic platters can be pre-ordered at R100 per person. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own picnic baskets, but are requested not to bring wine, as Nederburg wines will be available plus coffee, cool drinks and ice cream for the kids.
Bookings can be made and picnic platters ordered by calling Sunette Rust at 021 877 5173 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
