On Monday 18 April BRASS BAND OBERÖSTERREICH, will perform at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium.

The Brass Band of the Province of Upper Austria was formed by Thomas Beiganz in 2002, who is both lead flugelhorn player in the band and head of 190 brass teachers in the province. The band also boasts the most well known trumpet player in Austria, Hans Gansch, who is the former solo trumpet player of the world famous Vienna Philharmonic and currently head trumpet teacher at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.


Under the baton of conductor Hannes Buchegger, the band comprising mostly of brass and percussion teachers, has won the title of Brass Band Championships B-Section 4 times in Tirol Austria.


The bands greatest success was winning the B – Section in Groningen Netherlands 2005 and Belfast Ireland 2006 as well as third place at the European Brass Band Championships in 2010.

The group will also be joined by Cape Town Concert Brass.


The concert will start at 19:30 and will conclude with a mass item, where both Brass Bands will be joined by 50 young brass players, performing Farnandole, from L’Arsienne Suite, by N. Rimsky Korsakov.
