ONE OF THE RUN-AWAY SUCCESSES OF 2011
COMING TO THE GREYTON GENADENDAL “CLASSICS FOR ALL” FESTIVAL
Charl du Plessis has been hailed by the local press as a “cult pianist”, an “edu-tainer” with “an x-factor”, and South Africa’s
own “piano man”.
He has been named a Steinway Artist, joining an exquisite circle of renowned artists such as Vladimir Horowitz, Martha Argerich, Alfred Brendel, Lang Lang, Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau and many more.
Du Plessis records exclusively on Steinway pianos, and a special Steinway piano has been hired for his performance in the Moravian Church in Greyton on Friday, 3 June.
Du Plessis and violinist Zanta Hofmeyr perform a mixture of Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonate for piano and violin, some exciting Tango’s by Astor Piazzolla, a little bit of Gershwin, a little bit of Sting, as well as a few well-known swing melodies and jazz numbers … music for everyone!
“…the most beautiful classical sounds, exciting Argentine Tango and soothing jazz as performed by master musicians Zanta Hofmeyr
(on violin) and Charl du Plessis…”
