After a First Prize in Trumpet at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique and diplomas in both Physical Education and Psychology, Pierre Dutot could have confined his career as a brilliant soloist and a Professor at the Lyon CNSM, thanks to the numerous European concerts that have established his national and international reputation.

That was without counting on a strong, powerful and generous personality of rare conviviality. As a former soloist of the Orchestre National de Lyon, which he regretted having to leave in order to honour the multitude of invitations he received, he generously shares his gifts with many ensembles, where his brilliance is only equalled by his virtuosity.

The HEXGONE Brass Ensemble is the most brilliant example. Talent, passion and originality are acknowledged internationally – a serious reputation for teaching experience – an original and renewed repertoire – all this contributes to form a permanent ensemble that is unique in France and in Europe, which regularly represents the French Brass School all over the world.

Pierre DUTOT has participated in recording more than 80 CDs.

The Ministry entrusted him with a centre for training trumpets teachers. He is regularly invited as an examiner in French conservatoires and as an adjudicator in national and international competitions.

Pierre DUTOT, who during 22 years was a Professor at the Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (CNSMDL), is one of the most sought after teachers of the French Brass tradition, since his students monopolize successes in national and international competitions :

Davis GUERRIER 1st prize at the MUNICH International Competition in 2003

André HENRY 1st Prize at the GENEVA International Competition in 1996, Solo Trumpet in the CHINA National Orchestra etc.

His master-classes throughout the world leave indelible impressions : Mexico, Brazil, USA, Australia, China, Japan, South Africa etc.

His well-known teaching methods attract numerous students : in addition to his French students, eight nationalities are represented in his class at the Bordeaux Conservatoire.

MAURICE ANDRE sends young international talents for finishing lessons in his class.

‘I congratulate this great artist and teacher and encourage him enthusiastically to pursue his activity, which honours the French Brass School.’ (Maurice ANDRE)

Kind regards
